Had a Control and really wanted to love it but didn't. Compares it with a fresh Neutron Trail, which is a bit overstable until it beats in after a month or two, and calls the Control a slightly more stable new Trail.

The first time they felt a Svea in a shop it seemed completely unremarkable, and they bought it anyway. After a couple of throws they absolutely loved it.

Picks the Kaxe as the mold that surprised them most: fairway-driver speed and distance with a midrange feel and reliable stability, and it keeps surprising them the more they throw it.

Says the Bolt flies forever and gives them bullet-straight shots at any distance; with an arm speed around 54 mph and the right wind, 400 ft is possible for them.

Prefers the Construct to the Gorgon and says it flies more like a -2/2 than its 10/6/-1/2 numbers.

Calls the Inertia an underrated driver: less stable than a Trail and a real bomber with an initial left-to-right drift.

Recently picked up an Arachnid expecting not to like it as much as their Buzzz. Finds it slightly shallower with a similar feel and a better flight, possibly thanks to its 6 glide.

Uses a Buzzz OS on one hole that needs an early right turn and a quick hard left: thrown on anhyzer RHBH it is stable enough to finish left, and they birdie it fairly often but only with that disc.

A right-hander who throws thumbers to get around trees on a left-to-right line says the Gladiator is the only disc they have that does it well; everything else they tried doesn't flop over.

Uses a glow Glitch for longer putts outside the circle while putting inside it with a Reko, because the extra glide means they don't have to change their putting stroke much.

Just picked up a Duo Roadrunner and says it flies almost identically to their seasoned Halo Thunderbird when thrown back to back. Tried forcing it over to see it hold a turn with no luck; their normal max distance is 350–380 ft.

Throws Halo Sidewinders often and says they still finish but turn more than a Valkyrie, while expecting a Roadrunner to stay flippier.

Has bagged a Berg for about seven years and can get it 175–200 ft without much effort, or 250 ft if they push it.

A forehand player who used to throw the Berg and Berg X around 250 ft and now gets the Stasis to about 280 ft and the Range close to 300 ft.

Throws a mix of brands including a lot of Prodigy and calls the F5 a great straight fairway: not very long for them, but accurate and workable, and a staple this year.

Bags the A4 rather than the more popular A5 and likes its flight: some flip-up and a straight push for a while, with a reliable bite at the end.

Finds the Star Gorgon terrible in the hand, even though its -2 turn flies beautifully straight at elevation. The feel makes them throw it inconsistently enough that they don't enjoy it.

Notes that K1 Grind plastic is more understable: their K1 Älva bombs while their Grind Älva rolls.

The VIP Orbit Hatchet is their go-to understable distance driver at elevation; to them it flies more like a -3 turn than -2.

Lives at altitude and finds their Royal Grand Grace very beefy, to the point where they don't bag it.

Recommends the Strive, saying it really goes and that its -1 turn rating makes it sound more stable than it is: thrown flat they get a decent S-curve.

Uses a Pro Tern when they want a long straight drive: a 12-speed that is understable with a nice flight, and it feels better in the hand than a Gorgon.

Throws a 170 g Lucid Vandal as their 9-speed and loves it: lots of glide and dead straight, and once beaten in it becomes a good turnover and roller disc.

Tried the Fireball in their overstable 9-speed slot; the dumpy way it flexes out got them an ace but was also why it didn't stay in the bag.

Has two aces with the Rat and calls it a great disc, but no longer bags it because it overlaps with what they have and is so close to a mid.

Found the Jet too flippy and traded it to a friend who loves it; it is probably the friend's farthest-flying disc.

Switched most of their bag to MVP from Innova and Discraft this season with a noticeable improvement, and says the Pyro is amazing.

Used to run a Gator3 and a Range; the A2 is the only 4-speed that made them feel they no longer needed the Gator3. Finds it a very clean-releasing disc they feel confident with, and now approaches mostly with a putter, the A2 or the A5.

Throws a Pig forehand for long approaches, between their Berg X/Range and Gator3. Bags a beat-in R-Pro Pig and recently added a Star Pig as a more overstable option, which they are really enjoying.

After trying a lot of Prodigy since returning to the sport, the only mold that stayed in their bag is a 400 H7. Says it has the same numbers as a Roadrunner but is far more controllable for them, and they only like it in 400 plastic.

Used to love the Insanity's hyzer flips with a late turnover, but its slim profile and beveled inner rim gave them inconsistent early releases, especially with moisture.

Finds the Fox ridiculously flippy even with mediocre form and has to power down a lot to get anything close to a straight flight from it.

Bags the Glitch only for get-out-of-trouble shots where there's no room for a run-up or full swing, flicking it 150–200 ft with very little arm movement in thick woods.

Throws a Trail 330–360 ft and gets the same distance from the Control by throwing it a little flatter. Says it fades nicely at the end, like a longer Explorer or Teebird.

Owns three Nu-run Dimensions and says they fly like a stable Shryke rather than what the 14.5/5/0/3 numbers suggest; only a Plasma one flies differently for them.

Has thrown the Control only a few times, enough to see it fills the same slot as their Anax. The Anax started out far too beefy for them but turned into one of their favourite discs as it beat in.

The Wave is one of their mainstays, but it doesn't fade reliably unless thrown with a bit of hyzer; on any anhyzer it can turn hard to the right for them (RHBH).

“Wave is certainly one of my mainstays but it doesn’t reliably fade for me unless I give it a bit of hyzer. Any anhyzer and it can turn right on me pretty hard (RHBH).”

Throws the Berg forehand: an anhyzer flex with a K1 Soft Berg is their go-to approach shot.

Says the Berg X has no fight for them: thrown flat it just drifts left until it turns over or lands.

Bags the Range alongside the Stasis and likes that the Range can be shaped, especially on backhands, and holds a turn. Says the Stasis is more overstable, a tick above the Berg and Berg X, and both are faster than a Berg.

Has given a Drift to every friend who starts playing: it flies straighter than an Eagle for new players and becomes a great workable disc with more power.

The Saint (Opto or Gold) was the first driver they felt they could control and place, with just enough glide and stability to learn many different shots with one disc.

Has played for a year; the Maverick was one of their favourites, but after buying the Bokeh it became their main disc for shots under 275 ft.

With a mediocre arm speed, gets workable lines with consistent fade and wind-fighting ability from a Champion Eagle, backhand and sidearm, and pairs it with a Leopard3 for hyzer flips and turning shots.

Tried a Westside Bear recently and really liked it, recommending it as an overstable fairway driver.

Throws about 350 ft max and uses the Escape as their straight 300 ft disc. Loves their Fuzion Orbit Escape but hated one in base plastic.

An ESP Undertaker has been good for them: it took a few months of breaking in to get closer to neutral and now holds a nice turnover or hyzer-flip line.

The only MVP disc they have found that flies like their old Zones is a Proton Entropy from a used bin; other Entropy plastics don't have the overstability or hand feel they like.

Bags four Firebirds; a stock Champion Firebird took ages to wear in but is now their favourite disc ever, and they say no other disc can do what it does.

A self-described noodle arm who says the Pro plastic Wraith starts flipping after some tree hits; in field tests it gave practically the same lines as their Waves but consistently pushed 30+ ft farther.

Has a 2022 Tattar Grace that is a beast for their forehand drives and has never thrown it backhand.

Switched to all MVP, Axiom and Streamline and says the Trail gives them the easiest 370–380 ft ever.

Says the special-edition Aspect was very overstable at first but has beaten in quickly, already showing much less dump at the end. Contrasts it with their Control, which they have thrown far more without it changing much.

Started out with Prodigy fairways: the F3 was the next step after outgrowing their F5 and is now their hyzer-flip fairway, with an F7 in the very flippy slot. Likes that the discs all feel the same in the hand.

Recommends the retooled EMac Truth as fitting between a Gator and a Hex, with decent stability without being very overstable. Calls the recent Lucid-X Burst Moonshine run very nice: stable, with enough dome for glide while still allowing forehands.

Recommends a Star Orc with the weight tuned so it can take speed without turning over or fading too hard; with a 350 ft max and 320 ft average they can rip a 168 g Orc fairly straight.

A disc golf shop owner who recommends the Grand Sweep (not the Clear Sweep), saying they keep it very straight up to about 400 ft and that the Grand plastic is straighter than its 9/6/-0.5/2 rating.

Took an unused 152 g Fission Tesla to a water-heavy course expecting to lose it; it flew dead straight with dependable fade. Calls it easy to throw and easy to hit their line with.

Their current control driver is a Swirly S-Line Vanguard: it started out beefy and needed patience to beat in, and now holds its angle to the end on anhyzer, flips to flat on hyzer and gives a small S-turn without an aggressive fade.

Says the Thunderbird changed their game and was their first ace disc. Recommends GStar for a straighter flight and Champion for more stability short of a Firebird.

The Project Grip Diamond is doing great things in their bag: slightly more stable than a regular Diamond, so it doesn't flip as much and gives long straight pulls.

Their Proton Inertia turns more than they'd like, but their glow Eclipse one is perfect: straight for a long time with a pushing fade, holds an anhyzer for 375+ ft and gives big hyzer flips for 400+ ft.

Says the Lift is not really a straight 9-speed: it is an easy turnover or hyzer-flip disc that holds up to torque.

Calls the Insanity a cheat code for laser-low 350 ft hyzer flips.

Says the Fox can be squirrely, especially their G Star one, so they reach for a different mid for a controlled flip and bring the Fox out when they need a more pronounced turnover.

A Trail fan who maxes out just over 300 ft hoped the Control would give extra fade at the end of longer drives. Says they can't throw it: it fades much earlier than their Tesla despite being only one speed faster, and wonders if it just doesn't suit their arm.

The Wave is their most used driver and they bag two in different weights; hyzer flips are their favourite shot and the Wave is a hyzer-flip machine.

Says the Bokeh helped them a lot because it holds whatever angle it is thrown on, for better or worse, and learning it improved their game.

In every tournament their flippy-to-straight fairway slot goes to a Dynamic Discs Escape, which they have thrown since starting with a DD starter set. Doesn't think it's the best disc for the slot but throws it better.

Traded for a new Royal Grace (a Kristin Tattar edition) that is so overstable it is borderline unusable for them right now, though it is the nicest-feeling disc they have had.

A 167 g Fission Insanity took some time to dial in, but now gives them a consistent 340 ft hyzer-flip line and they can't play a round without it.

A woman who just started playing throws a Halo Fox best most of the time, even though at around 180 g it is heavier than most recommendations and her release is still rough.

Didn't like the Control at first because it is much beefier than a Trail, but has come to respect it for headwinds, hyzers around corners and flexing around trees. Advises throwing it flat or on anhyzer for distance and never on hyzer.

Recommends the Wave and notes it can be flippy depending on weight, run, plastic and arm speed. Their glow Wave is much more stable than their Neutron ones, and a Neutron Wave is one of their farthest backhand flyers.

The Bokeh is what they wanted the Buzzz to be: they never liked the Buzzz's rim and hand feel, and the Bokeh is more comfortable, goes farther and straight, and is easy to throw without much distance.

Bought the Fox for understability and found it even more understable than expected. Uses it for easy, reliable hyzer flips and for a hard left-to-right turn as a backhand-only player, and says it turns over better than anything else in their bag.

Just picked up a Halloween Eclipse Control and finds it close to its flight numbers, comparing the pair to a Thunderbird versus a Valkyrie. Uses it on a touch of anhyzer in tailwinds for a gentle flex and on flat hyzers, says in headwinds it flies like a normal Trail, and expects it to get slightly flippier as it beats in.

Without a big arm, their farthest throw (350 ft) is with a 168 g Valkyrie, and they recommend dropping weight to get the flight when you can't put much spin on the disc.

Says a G Star Fox gets flippier after several solid tree hits; theirs took about 10 hard shanks off the tee.

Likes the Panther as an understable mid: a smaller-diameter midrange that makes it very easy to shape shots.

Found the Function super flippy and used it for S-turns and odd spots that need a forward push, a 90-degree turn and then a straight finish; lost theirs and hasn't found a replacement.

Pairs a Halo Mamba with their F5: it drifts right when thrown flat without turning and burning, has become their farthest disc and gets there faster than anything they've seen.

Found the Glitch highly situational: they only used it when they couldn't take a full swing and needed its glide and low weight for extra distance, essentially as a max-distance jump putter.

Throws a Neutron Watt and two glow Glitches in the 160s for slow approaches from about 60 to 150 ft; says both have a hair of stability and fight out of an anhyzer, unlike a standard Glitch.

With an ultimate background, finds the Parachute easier to throw than any disc in their bag: for shaped throws they don't want a golf disc to fight, a little spin and it stays on its line.

Has a Total Eclipse Pitch that lives in their glow bag but never made the main bag; uses it as a catch disc and throws it a lot in glow rounds for fun shots.

Their ESP Luna flies a touch more stable than their other Lunas, and they use the Luna mostly for short drives around 220 ft that fade on a baby anhyzer or go dead straight with a tiny fade.

In their first year of playing, comfortably gets the Crave out to 260 ft and uses a Range for most approaches around 100 ft; the Crave and Range are their most-thrown discs apart from putters.

Mostly throws a Proxy or Envy and says they could throw either 100 times and know exactly what it would do every time, regardless of wind.

Advises beating in an S-Line P3x: once it is properly broken in, they say it becomes the most trustworthy dead-straight throwing putter they have thrown.

The Reactor is their favourite midrange for both forehand and backhand, doing both equally well.

Likes the Trace in Proton plastic for its feel and says Plasma and Cosmic Neutron fly the same; describes it as basically a Wraith-style disc from Streamline.

Recommends the Star TL3 for something that flies bullet straight: they bag 168 g ones and consistently throw them 380–400 ft on a rope.

Finds the Saint Pro very understable and glidey and a different disc from the regular Saint, but would use neither in the wind.

Recommends the Bear for a straight 300 ft: a speed 8 that can handle power and spin without turning over much, and they can throw theirs on a baby S-turn.

Their straightest 9-speed is the Insanity: a Fission one hyzer-flips to flat and goes straight forever. They max out around 425 ft with distance drivers.

Says a Star Thunderbird seems quite overstable at first but breaks in soon; for them it ends up a little too flippy, while their Metal Flake Thunderbird is just fine.

Finds the Halo Gorgon pretty sweet, but once it really breaks in they have to throw it on a lot of hyzer.

Keeps coming back to Destroyers even after switching to a full range of Wraiths this summer, because Destroyers fly better for them. Their longest on-course throw with one yesterday was about 380 ft.

The TeeBird3 in Champion plastic gives them a perfect, reliable flight with a tiny turn and reliable fade, getting out to about 330–350 ft.

The Tempo is a staple in their bag, great for forehand and backhand, and laser straight without turning and burning until about 275 ft.

Has tried a lot of drivers but always keeps at least one Sword in the bag, in several plastics and stabilities, because it is so nice and mostly straight.

Keeps coming back to the Terra and the Electron Entropy: the Terra is the perfect level of overstable for them and very comfortable in the hand.

Finds the Entropy very comfortable, with Electron plastic beating in to the perfect stability and staying reliable in almost any conditions.

When limiting their bag to 9 speeds or under, the Lots and Falk are their go-to distance discs depending on whether they feel better on hyzer or flex that day. Notes some Falks are more neutral and some Lots flippier than others.

Throws about 440 ft and uses an Athena out to around 370 ft: extremely controllable, very straight and with less fade than a faster disc. Released flat it drifts right for a while and comes back, and they move up to an S-Line PD for headwinds.

A long-time Crave thrower who tried a Swirly S-Line FD as their straight fairway this season and has been killing it with the disc, calling it their best fairway driver in ages now that it is seasoned.

About 15 different mids have passed through their bag, but they couldn't shelve their Opto-Ice Orbit Fuse for even a round. It is perfectly seasoned after almost three years and they no longer lend it to friends.

With similar power to the poster, throws a Halo Valkyrie 340–370 ft lasers all day, though it may need a bit of beating in to lose the dump at the end.

Found a Roadrunner in the woods when starting out and it was the first disc they threw a nice S-curve with; now loves the Duo version.

Uses a Mamba for long low-ceiling shots: at 70% power on hyzer it flips up a few feet off the ground and rides about 270 ft with its glide, and they can hit their height reliably that way.

Loves the Glitch as a super fun disc for Glitch-only rounds without bagging it all the time; putts with a Watt, which feels like its heavier, more predictable cousin.

Compares the Watt and Glitch: both fly straight and float without being thrown hard, the Glitch more so, but they use the Watt because it is heavier and better in wind. Their wife prefers the light, straight Glitch to most other discs when it isn't windy.

Finds the Luna very sensitive to wobble; doing fieldwork with a Luna is how they fixed the wobble in their backhand.

A big Thunderbird fan with a 425 ft max who uses them for shots from 280 to 400 ft, getting flights from about -1/2 to 0/3. Says used Champion and Star Thunderbirds give a beat-in flight with a nice finish and GStar does it out of the box; they own over 100.

Finds the Destroyer hard to beat as a reliable distance driver: Halo Star when they need it overstable, and Swirly Star has been very good as a bomber.

Loved their Valkyrie until losing it in a lake: they learned to throw 200 ft with it and threw their first 360 ft with it.

Carries a Glitch as a utility disc for putts from under low branches, where it glides far and straight without needing an arc.

Says the Luna is sensitive to wobble and very deep, and they get misreleases on it more often than on shallower putters.

Used the Glitch for long low-ceiling putts and shots that keep drifting right without fading, until the Spin kicked it out of their bag; still uses an Eclipse Glitch for glow rounds and finds Eclipse ones more torque resistant and heavier.

Loves the Glitch for playing catch, but it is never in their bag because other discs cover everything they might use it for on the course.

The Cicada is one of their favourite discs, especially a swirly ESP Ledgestone run.

Prefers the Spore for long putts just outside their putter range, though they won't use it in strong conditions.

Returned to disc golf after 10 years, drives about 75–80 m RHBH, and says the Svea has got them out of more trouble than anything: they use it for fairway throws that turn moderately right and glide down sweeping right bends, getting 55–60 m from it.

Wanted a beefier Buzzz, but the Buzzz OS was not for them.

In northern Ontario they switch to a PA-3 in 300 Ultra Soft for winter: the soft plastic firms up at -30 °C and still gives grip, where their regular putter feels too slick.

After a couple of years playing, says the light, understable Diamond with its predictable glide saved their beginner game, gave them their solo ace and made it easy to learn hyzers around trees; three of the eight discs in their bag today were Diamonds.

Has putted with a PA-3 for years and also has a Fission Watt, mostly an understable thrower with so much glide they can putt from outside 100 ft without changing mechanics.

After an Aviar and an unremarkable Colt, got a Dynamic Discs Judge (Robert Burridge stamp) that actually helps their game; it felt right in the hand, is a bit domey and is more predictable for them than the Aviar.

Their special-edition C-Line Notion was very straight out of the box but got flippy quickly after a few tree hits.

The Firebird is the most fun disc they have and does anything they want: big 90-degree turns, overhand throws to 225 ft and big flex shots.

After nearly 25 years of playing, calls the GStar Destroyer a sleeper: with their arm speed and technique it behaves like a Trail but faster and farther, and has earned its spot in the bag.

Throws their Escape farther and with more control than their Trail, which was so overstable they used it in a Thunderbird slot.

Feels like their Crave fixes their mistakes for them, mainly too much hyzer on the backhand.

Bought a Glitch on a whim a few months ago and still throws it whenever they can: so much fun, going dead straight over the treetops and then floating down vertically like a helicopter.

Loving their ESP Sled and Ultra Sled: they fly insanely straight and hold whatever angle they're thrown on with minimal fade.

Their issue with the Zone SS is that they don't find the amount of turn predictable.

The Fox is their favourite new disc: a Proto Glow Halo Fox plus an Electron Soft Tempo is their whole bag on any course under 5,000 ft.

Their K1 Soft Järn is awesome, and K1 Soft is easily their favourite plastic, though they don't gel with many other Kastaplast molds.

A new player who threw their Champion Valkyrie in a field found it very unpredictable, going way right, way left, into the ground and sky high, and thinks they would score better with just a mid and putter for now.

Thinks everyone should bag a Mako3 and prefers Star or Halo Star plastic; says it flies exactly where you throw it and helps show where your form is off, though DX will change after tree hits.

Finds the Paradox hyzer flip goes too far to use on shorter holes, but thrown with a swoop on purpose it can do some crazy turnover lines.

Goes to the Runway when they want a little more distance than a Deflector but still a mid, noting it isn't as torque resistant; considers it more of a longer Zone.

Had a Vass that flew a very long way and was the first driver they could get to turn over; useless in the Texas wind, but a bomber.

The Kaxe is the stable mid they always come back to, bagging a pre-retool K1 and a post-retool K3 in slightly different slots; the same goes for the Reko as their putter.

Uses the Savior as their approach disc and finds it excellent from farther out where they can crank on it, but closer to the basket it throws like a brick and is hard to get touch with.

At 45 and playing for a year, finds 165–168 g the sweet spot: their 165 g Trail now turns a lot when thrown flat, but their 168 g Wave is money.

Their first self-bought distance driver was a Ballista, which flies far more understable than its numbers; still their farthest-flying disc ever, but the wide rim made it wind-sensitive and it needed about 60 ft of lateral movement for max distance.

After 2.5 years progressing from a Stig through Roadrunner, Trail and DGA Sail, now uses a Q-Line DD1 and crossed 400 ft for the first time about two weeks ago.

Has thrown a Valkyrie for over 20 years and lately a 156 g Impulse, which is like a baby Valkyrie for them: not the same flight, but they can backhand it more cleanly with very little effort.

Lost their favourite KC Star Wraith, tried others that didn't fly the same, then got a Philo Duo Wraith; it didn't seem right at first, but now that it's broken in they get the same distance as the one they lost.

Progressed from Destroyer to Wraith to S-Line DD3 and still uses all three: Destroyer for needle-straight backhands, Wraith for forehand, and the DD3 for full-flight bombs.

Says conditions need to be great for their Tern to fly, though it is fantastic for long turnovers, while their Eveliina swirly Destroyer goes in all conditions.

Uses a Westside Destiny, which they find less stable and less fast than its numbers, so they can throw it far without a 13–14 speed arm; on wide-open holes it's the Destiny all day. Their max is about 380 ft.

Has a beat-in 162 g and a new 164 g Fission Trail: the beat-in one has become a little too flippy and needs some anhyzer to stop it turning over, but bombs with the right flight for their noodle arm.

Likes straighter Zones but found the Vessel didn't have enough bite.

Switched from a Westside Destiny to a light 169 g Pro Wraith, which has more glide and a bit more turn than Star; calls Pro one of the best plastics for drivers, with good grip and a reasonable beat-in time.

Has big hands but finds the Luna almost too deep; has thrown it a lot and can get one to around 290 ft, but it is wildly inconsistent, so they throw a Proxy or Envy in that slot.

Calls the Berg a must-bag on windy days because with no glide it won't get carried away; uses it as a utility disc that shines when the situation comes up.

Their GStar Wraith hasn't left the bag in about a decade despite dabbling with Destroyers, a Westside Destiny and liking the MVP Wave lately.

Their Vex Vessel (Proctor run) is more overstable than any Z Zone they have thrown and has stayed that way for a year.

A Luna enthusiast with two always in the bag and about 15 on the shelf: says to spin it more and throw it nose up, and by changing nose angle, hyzer and speed you can get almost any shot from this workable putter.

From 100 to 200 ft on a straight shot they use the Berg: ripped it barely goes past 200 ft and powered down it comfortably goes 100, and unlike the Järn it sits rather than skipping. The Järn and Berg will never leave their bag.

Bags a K1 Soft Glow Berg for approaches from 100 ft and in, thrown only RHFH; says it is the only disc that never surprises them and either goes in or lands close if they do their part.

The Pilot has been their go-to putter for years, mostly for feel; they think they get a bit more glide from it when spin putting.

Their nose and release angles start to break down at 9-speed, so they carry a Terra because they're more consistent with it than a Firebird-type disc.

A Neutron Resistor was their main driver for months, but they had to throw it extremely hard to get over 300 ft forehand; the Terra gives comparable distance without the strain.

Has bagged an Ascend for years; after their special-edition one got run over they found another from the same run and says it is amazing for turnovers and hyzer flips.

Approaches with a Stasis and a Zone: the Zone is easy to aim, and the Stasis is for very close shots where they need to shape something slow to the basket.
